28 May 1915 Sgt Harry Edmonds

28 May 1915 Sgt Harry Edmonds6148 Sgt Harry Edmonds, 4th Bn KRRC.

Born at Studham, Bedfordshire in 1888, Harry enlisted into the army at Dunstable as a 17 year old in early 1905. Possibly a recalled reservist, he was sent overseas with ‘D' Company of the 4/KRRC in December 1914 and served in the Ypres Salient (St Eloi sector) until he took part in the Second Battle of Ypres. He was wounded in the vicinity of Bellewaerde Lake/Hooge on the 24/25 May 1915 and evacuated. Harry died of his injuries in hospital at Wimereux on 28 May 1915 and now lies buried in Wimereux Communal Cemetery.
