Born at Himmelheim in 1897, Georg was a farmer in civilian life. Enlisting in 1915, his two year service was mainly spent on the Western Front, during which he became a holder of the Iron Cross 2nd Class. He was killed in action near Courcelles on 11 June 1918 and buried nearby, but his grave was later lost. Recent study of French burial documents, however, reveal that he is likely to be presently buried in the Kameradengrab of the German Military Cemetery at Vauxbuin, near Soissons.
