Cpl Francois Dupont, 3 Cie, 175 RI.
From St.Haon-le-Vieux, Rhone, Francois was engaged in his compulsory military service at the time of the outbreak of war. As part of one of the regiments of the Army of the Orient, Francois was sent to Gallipoli where he was engaged in the Aqueduct sector before taking part in battle of Krithia. He was killed in action at 7.00am on 20 June 1915 by the explosion of a large Turkish shell which exploded at his feet, completely obliterating him. Francois' remains could not be sufficiently recovered and, so, he has no known grave.
