21 June 1915 Sdt Charles Vallet

Charles was born at Roanne, Loire on 3 January 1895 where he was still living - at 16, Rue Arago - at the time of his enlistment. Charles had entered his compulsory military service in April 1914 and was serving with the 162 RI at the time of the outbreak of war. Soon after, he was transferred to the Armée of the Orient and served at Gallipoli with the 176 RI. Landing at Sedd-Ul-Bahr on 15 May 1915, Charles was killed in a Turkish bombardment nearby. He has no known grave.
