7777 Pte Edward James Niddery, 2nd Bn CEF.
From Hampton, Ontario, Edward had been an office worker for Dunlop Tyres and Rubber Goods Co during civilian life. Initially joining the 9th Mississauga Horse (militia) immediately prior to the war, he transferred to the CEF upon the outbreak of war and found himself serving in France and Belgium by the beginning of 1915. In mid-June 1915, Edward was one of the battalion's 76 wounded during bombardments on the battalion trenches during their stay at Givenchy and he was evacuated back to the UK. Edward died of wounds at the Royal Victoria Military Hospital at Netley, Hampshire and is buried in the cemetery there. He was 19 years of age.
