2/Lt Edward Percival Doyle, 11th Bn West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Own).
Born at San Fernando, Trinidad on 5 October 1889, Edward was the son of Dr E A G Doyle and Mrs Doyle, of 33 Harefield Rd, Brockley, London. Educated at Queens Royal College, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Middle Temple, London., Edward was a Barrister of Law at the time of his enlistment in February 1915. Originally enlisting into the King Edward's Horse, Edward was transferred to the West Yorkshire Regiment upon receiving his commission where he served as battalion bombing officer with the 11th Battalion. He was severely wounded whilst engaged in this role during the attack on Horseshoe Trench near La Boisselle on 4 July 1916. Edward died of his wounds in 38 CCS at Heilly later the same day and he is now buried Heilly Station Cemetery, Mericourt l'Abbe. He is also commemorated on the Port of Spain Cenotaph, Trinidad.
