27 July 1915 Chasseur Jean Lievre

27 July 1915 Chasseur Jean Lievre1286 Chasseur Jean Lievre, 22e BACP.

Born at Roanne (Loire) on 3 July 1885, Jean was recalled to service on 3 August 1914 and only served in the Vosges/Alsace. He was killed in action at Kerbohlz, Alsace on 27 July 1915 during the desperate fighting on the Vosges peaks that continued throughout the summer of 1915. He is now buried at Orbey near the Linge, in the Nécropole Nationale ‘Le Wettstein' (perhaps more famously known as the ‘Cimetière des Chasseurs').
