2 August 1915 Sdt Jean Blettery

2 August 1915 Sdt Jean Blettery541 Sdt Jean Blettery, 5e Regiment d’Infanterie Colonial.

Born at Lentigny, Loire on 29 August 1889, Jean was living at nearby Ouches at the time of his enlistment. Recalled to the army in August 1914, he took part in the battles at Sarrebourg and in the Argonne in 1914 and early 1915. He fell ill in July 1915 whilst serving in the Argonne and died in the Central Hospital at Bar-le-Duc on 2 August 1915 (exact cause unknown). Jean is buried in the Necropole Nationale at Bar-le-Duc.
