872 Sdt Pierre Goutailler, 175e Regiment d'Infanterie.
Born at St Paul de Vezelin (Loire) on 11th September 1895, Pierre was living at Coteau at the time of his enlistment (September 1914). He served at Gallipoli from May 1915 but he was evacuated in early August 1915 suffering from illness. Pierre died of disease at the evacuation hospital of Houdros on the island of Lemnos on 12 August. His body was repatriated to France and he now lies buried in the small military section (containing just six graves) of the communal cemetery at Coteau, Loire.
