Inf Franz Xaver Manninger, 8 Komp, Kgl Bay 7, Inf-Regt "Prinz Leopold".
A farmer from Wölfting, Bavaria, Franz was born in January 1895. He enlisted in the early months of 1915, and he was in frontline service from July 1915. Franz served throughout the battles of Champagne, the Somme and Arras before taking part in the Third Battle of Ypres (more commonly known as Passchendaele) where he was killed in action by receiving a serious gun shot injury to the head. Franz has no known grave.
