U/offz Peter Hackl, 10 Komp Kgl Bay 10 Res Inf Regt.
Born at Landau a/d Isar, Bavaria in 1889, Peter was a skinner in an abattoir in his civilian life. A recalled reservist in 1914, he served at the front from February 1915 and he saw action at Carency - Souchez during the Second Battle of Artois. Remaining in the Arras sector (Blangy) until the beginning of August 1916, Peter was mainly involved in local actions and routine trench holding activities. In August 1916, he was moved to the Somme battle area where he was killed in action by rifle fire during an extremely costly defensive action near Maurepas on 18 August 1916. Peter has no known grave.
