Landwehrmann Franz Xaver Grundner, 8 Komp, Kgl Bay 26 Inf Regt.
A farmer from Loha, Altötting, Franz was mobilised in early 1916 and he remained in the Fecht valley until he was sent to the Rumanian front in October 1916. Remaining there throughout his service, he was killed in action by a gunshot wound to the head whilst attacking near Foscani on 25 August 1917. Originally buried in a military cemetery at Mariazesti, the location of his grave is currently unrecorded.
