28 August 1914 Inf Wolfgang Vilsmeier

From Schermau, Bavaria, 22 year old Wolfgang was already serving at the outbreak of war. He arrived at Sarrebrucken on 9 August 1914 and crossed into France. Wolfgang took part in the sacking of Badenwiller on 12 August before moving back to Sarrebrucken where he was involved in the costly battle of 20 August. He was killed in action during the ‘Battle of Menil' on 28 August 1914 and has no known grave.
