678759 Cpl Arthur James Allen, 116th Bn CEF.
Born in Wales on 10 August 1892, Arthur was a farmer in Toronto, Canada at the time of his enlistment (he had emigrated in 1913). Initially rejected for service in Manitoba, Arthur finally managed to enlist in Toronto on 29 January 1916 and he was sent overseas in September 1916. He was killed in action near Bully-Grenay on 31 August 1917 and he is now buried in Aix-Noulette communal cemetery extension.
