15 September 1916 Pte Leonard Lindsay Stokes

15 September 1916 Pte Leonard Lindsay StokesG/4800 Pte Leonard Lindsay Stokes, 1st Bn Buffs.

Born in Dover, Leonard was living at Margate at the time of his enlistment. Enlisting at Canterbury in August 1914, he arrived in France on 1 April 1915. Leonard was killed in action during the battle of Flers-Courcelette on 15 September 1916 and he now lies buried in Guillemont Road Military Cemetery.
