17 September 1917 Ers Rez Josef WimbauerErs Rez Josef Wimbauer, Bavarian Infantry (exact unit unknown).

Aged 34 at death, Josef was a stone-mason and house-builder from Laubberg, Bavaria. He was killed in action during routine trench-holding operations in Alsace (near the very southern end of the Western Front - not far from the Swiss border) on 17 September 1917. Josef now lies in the German Military Cemetery at Illfurth (the most southerly German cemetery on the Western Front) - Block 5, grave 178.
