29 September 1918 VdG Ulric Remi Julia de Leye

29 September 1918 VdG Ulric Remi Julia de Leye7449 VdG Ulric Remi Julia de Leye, 2e Jagers te Voet (Belgian Army).

Born at Dendermonde on 6 July 1895, Ulric was a ‘War Volunteer' who enlisted into the Belgian Army at the end of 1914. Seeing most of his front-line service between Dixmude and Pervijze in holding operations on the Yser, the 2e JtV were later transferred to hold the line between Pervijze and Nieupoort. Ulric was killed in action during a gas bombardment at Nieupoort on 29 September 1918. He is now buried in the Belgian Military Cemetery at de Panne (plot F, grave 255).
