Harold Graham Paris was born on 13 October 1887, the youngest son of Alexander and Emma Paris of Southampton and educated at the King's School in Canterbury.

He attended the Royal Military Academy in Woolwich from where he was commissioned into the Royal Garrison Artillery in 1907. After serving in France from 1914, he was gazetted Acting Major on 21 January 1917 and took command of the 138th Heavy Battery, RGA on 20 February 1917. Major Paris was awarded the MC in August 1917 and a bar to the decoration in September 1918.

On 6 October 1918, during a German barrage, and whilst helping a wounded man, Major Harold Paris was killed. He is buried at Hargincourt British Cemetery
