Living at Sevelinges at the time of his enlistment, Louis was born in 1888. Called up for his compulsory military service in 1909, he was an active army reservist who was recalled to service immediately upon outbreak of war. He saw action at the Battles of Sarrebourg , la Mortagne, the Aisne and Picardie. Louis was wounded in action on 15 October 1914, dying in a dressing station later that day. His body appears to have been ‘repatriated' to Sevelinges.
