29 October 1918 Pvt Clarence MessmanPvt Clarence Messman, SATC, US Army.

Born at Kentland, Indiana on 23 March 1897, Clarence was a farmer before his army service. Enlisting on 15 October 1918, he was sent to Winona Lake, Indiana where he was assigned to the Motor Truck Service of the SATC (Student Army Training Corps). Clarence died here of pneumonia just two weeks after enlistment - on 29 October 1918. He is buried at Renselaer, Jasper County, Indiana.
