From Montagny, Loire, Josef's record no longer exists. Other than the fact that he was killed in action on 1 November 1914, nothing can be found about this man. There are no war grave details held by the Ministère de la Défense, nor any casualty card. Sadly, the roll of honour entitled ‘Journal de Roanne 14/18 (Morts pour la France)' - and, now, the WFA's ‘Remembered on this Day' feature - appear to be his only memorials.
