3 November 1917 Gnr Orville George Moyer

3 November 1917 Gnr Orville George Moyer334005 Gnr Orville George Moyer, 3 TMB, Canadian Field Artillery. Born at Columbus, Indiana, USA on 7 November 1896 (though, upon attestation, claimed 10 May 1891), Orville was a farmer who had seen a couple of years service in the 2nd (US) Field Artillery Regiment pre-war. Moving to Canada in order to enlist in 1916, he joined the CEF on 19 August 1916 at Amhertsberg, Ontario. Assigned to Battery C of the 63rd field Artillery, he was sent to the UK soon after enlistment and was transferred to the 31st Battery of the 9th Brigade. Orville was killed in action during the Third Battle of Ypres on 3 November 1917 and he is now buried in Vlamertinghe Military Cemetery.
