Pvt William O'Neill Douglas, Batt.A, 150th FAR, 42nd Division.
Born at Joliet, Illinois on 29 October 1900, William was a student at Culver Naval Training School when he enlisted into the US regular army on 16 April 1917 at Indianapolis. After training at Fort Benjamin Harrison, he joined the Engineers before transferring to the Field Artillery prior to embarking for France on 18 October 1917. William died of empyema on 27 December 1917 at Base Hospital No 10 at St Nazaire, France. Originally buried at St.Nazaire, William's body was later moved to the Oise-Aisne American Cemetery at Fere en Tardenois.
