31 December 1917 Pte Arthur Foster

31 December 1917 Pte Arthur Foster267712 Pte Arthur Foster, 1/6th Duke of Wellingtons (W Riding) Regt.

Born and residing at Addingham, Yorkshire, 38 year old Arthur was a carter in his local Co-operative Society in civilian life. He was called into service on 26 August 1916. He had only recently been hospitalised due to trench-foot when he was severely wounded in the Ypres sector on 31 December 1917. Arthur died in a Casualty Clearing Station the same day and he is now buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium. He died just two days before he was due to go on leave.
