14 January 1918 Pte Rennie Grimshaw

14 January 1918 Pte Rennie Grimshaw36970 Pte Rennie Grimshaw, 2/7th Lancashire Fusiliers.

From Colne, Lancashire, where he resided at Winckersall Farm, Rennie was a farm worker in civilian life. After he enlisted into the Lancashire Fusiliers in 1916, he transferred to the 2/7th Battalion immediately prior to moving overseas in early to mid-1917. Rennie saw service on the Flemish coast and during the Third Battle of Ypres (Passchendaele). He was wounded in action by shellfire whilst in reserve on the Yser canal in early January 1918 and died of his injuries in hospital at Wimereaux. He is now buried in Wimereaux Communal Cemetery.
