Jgr Otto Mätzer, 3 Rgt d Tir K J.
Born at Fussach, Austria, on 13 September 1898, Otto was a farm labourer in civilian life. Called up for military service in late 1916, he served in Austria for the first year, before being transferred to the Italian front by the end of 1917. After only a few weeks of front-line service, Otto was killed in action in the vicinity of Monte Pertica, Italy, on 15 January 1918. It would appear that his remains now lie in the Mt Grappa mausoleum.
