Sdt 2e Cl Jean-Francois Ramus, 28 BCA.
Born at La Ferriere, Isire, on 19 February 1882, Jean-Francois was living at 39, rue Centrale, Roanne at the time of his recall to service in August 1914. After retraining at Grenoble, he saw service in the Vosges mountains during the last months of 1914 but he was killed in action near Wattwiller, Alsace on 19 January 1915. He now lies buried in the Necropole Nationale ‘le Vieil Armand' (also known as ‘cimitiere du Silberloch') on the Hartmannswillerkopf.
