24 January 1916 Cpl Claude Marius Ramage32 Cpl Claude Marius Ramage, RICM/4e RIC.

From Roanne, Loire, Claude was born on 10 February 1892. Already a serving soldier at the outbreak of war, he was involved in actions on the Marne, the Champagne and Flanders throughout 1914 and 1915. By the end of 1915, he was serving at the extreme north of the Western Front near Nieupoort where, during a small action on 24 January 1916, he was killed in action. Originally buried in a small cemetery in the dunes, Claude's body was moved post-war to the Necropole Nationale of ‘Notre Dame de Lorette' at Ablain-St-Nazaire, Pas de Calais.
