27 January 1916 Pte John Haighton

27 January 1916 Pte John Haighton11356 Pte John Haighton, 2nd Dragoon Guards (Queens Bays). From Colne, Lancashire, where he lived at Oak House, Bott Lane, John enlisted at Nelson in early 1915. After serving on the Western Front in a dismounted role for several months, he was wounded in action near Vermelles and died of wounds in the dressing station located at Vermelles Chateau. John was 18 years of age and he is now buried in Vermelles British Cemetery.
