App Smn Stephen Edward Rutherford, US Navy.
Born on 24 January 1894 at Cannelton, Indiana, Stephen was a farmer before his enlistment. Enlisting into the US Navy at Indianapolis in December 1917, he was sent to the Great Lakes Naval Training Station, Illinois where, in January 1918, he contracted pneumonia. Stephen dies of his illness on 28 January 1918, and he was buried in Cliff Cemetery, Cannelton.
