A resident of Perreux, Louis was born at Coutouvre on 4 September 1875. Part of the Armée Territoriale pre-war, he was called to full time service in August 1914 at camp de Valbonne. Serving on the Champagne front from October 1914, Louis died of wounds at Villers Franqueux (Marne) on 31 January 1915. He is now buried in the Necropole nationale at Sillery.
