A Week In France During War Time (August 12th - 20th 1915)
This book is very curious, it is the diary of a 15 year old boy who goes to France with his uncle to visit another uncle who is serving at the front in August 1915.
The trip takes nine days and is recorded by Reginald Harold Aslin in a school exercise book.
Reginald writes with a clear hand and the enthusiasm of a gifted and joyous boy.
Reginald's daughter-in-law Janice Aslin found the original diary after Reginald's death. She has lovingly added colour to the diary with first class photographs and maps.
The book is only 56 pages long and is beautifully presented by Tommies Guides.
I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It is a joy to read, it presents a view of the world from a bygone era that is utterly charming.
It would be a grand addition to any Great War Library
The book is published by Tommies Guides priced £7.95
