Description

The theme of the military family is widely found in literature of the First World War and the 'band of brothers' description runs through almost every memoir and unit history. But what happened when one of the brothers was killed? In the military family, what did that make his replacement?

Tim Lynch joined the army at the age of sixteen and saw active service with the Army Air Corps in the Falklands and Northern Ireland. After returning to civilian life he co-authored one of the first studies of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder among British veterans and was closely involved in the campaign for improved services for ex-service personnel. He is trained in Critical Incident Debriefing and as a Probation Officer working with offender veterans both in custody and in the community.
He is also a freelance writer and photographer specialising in military history and is a regular contributor to a variety of magazines in Britain and the US
